You do not need previous experience with paper piecing as the instructions walk you through this technique step by step. When learning foundation paper piecing, it is easier to use fabrics that are the same on the front and the back, meaning they do not have a right or wrong side. Most batiks and solid fabrics work well for foundation paper piecing.
